Valborg in Åsa

The evening of April 30th is special in Sweden: Valborgsmässoafton is celebrated! Our good friend Wikipedia explains that Valborgsmässoafton “is derived from Pagan spring customs, where the arrival of spring was celebrated with bonfires at night“. The university students are who more celebrate this day; they make barbecues in the parks and get drunk like there’s no tomorrow.

Tranemo, a tiny piece of paradise

This weekend we went to Tranemo, a village town in the south east of Västra Götaland. What were we doing there?, you will wonder. It’s easy. We joined the (probably) best birthday party ever!

Tu tires ou tu pointes?

I was back to Toulouse in France, after seven months of absence, and I can say that it feels outlandish to be on holidays in a city you used to live since five years!

Brännö, a perfect daytrip

Easter started boring for me. There were nobody in Löftadalens and I had no money for more trips. But finally,… I got a plan for the Sunday! I went to Brännö with Celia and Joris, two volunteers who work in the area. Brännö is an island in the southern archipelago of Gothenburg.

Lagom #4 – I want to dance

Our last song is based on a really true story! Hang on! We were dancing with friends in a empty Swedish pub with loud rock’n’roll music, and when we went to the counter to order a drink, the waitress asked us to stop dancing because we were “disturbing” the customers! Unbelievable!

What a pleasure to discover a new scandinavian city with the sun by our side! My friends and I spent three well filled days. We were hosting by another friend who lives here since three years in Vesterbro area!

Videoblog #7: Disco in Åsa

Some youngsters organized a disco in Åsa few weeks ago. The theme for the party was The Circus… but sadly just the organizers wore costumes. It wasn’t so full as we expected, but the kids had fun playing games and enjoying with there friends. There are usually discos in Åsa Fritidsgård, so if you want to go just stay in touch with the youth center or check the Ung i Kungsbacka’s blog.

Spain is more than the Islands

When a Swede tells me that was in Spain and I ask for the destination, the answer is always Barcelona, Alicante, Mallorca or Canary Island. The classics. These are good places if you want to burn yourself on the beach or see with your own eyes a classical postcard of Spain… but you are missing the probably most beautiful city in the country: San Sebastian.
